Kindergarten/Grade 1 Teacher (1.0)

New Heights School and Learning Services is a not-for-profit K-12 School and Specialized Services provider for families with autistic/neurodivergent children and youth aged 5 – 20 years. We are a play-based program that utilizes the strengths and interests of each student to address social-emotional and academic goals.

Classrooms at New Heights School are multi-grade, with a maximum of 10 students and a consistent Educational Assistant on the teaching team. 

New Heights currently requires one Teacher (1.0) for our Kindergarten/Grade 1 classroom to cover a leave for the 2025-2026 school year.  

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Teacher will:

  • Support the students by teaching, using and modeling strategies
  • Collaborate to determine approaches that are most effective for the students
  • Adapt and modify curriculum objectives to meet each student where they are at
  • Develop and implement engaging learning activities to address specified emotional and academic goals
  • Monitor, assess and document students’ progress

Qualifications:

  • An active Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Experience working with autistic/neurodivergent youth
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and highly motivated to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
