Educational Assistant (1.0)
New Heights School and Learning Services is a not-for-profit School and Specialized Service provider for families with children aged 2 ½ – 20 years with a diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum, or with similar learning challenges. We are a play-based program that utilizes the strengths and interests of each student to address social-emotional and academic goals. Classrooms at New Heights School are multi-grade, with a maximum of 11 students with a consistent Teacher and Educational Assistant teaching team.
New Heights currently requires an Educational Assistant (1.0) to work with a Junior High (Grades 7-9) Classroom.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Educational Assistant will:
- Support the students by teaching, using and modeling strategies and tools
- Collaborate to determine approaches that are most effective for the students
- Develop and implement engaging strategies and tools to address specified emotional and academic goals
- Monitor and document students’ progress
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education (certificate, diploma, and/or degree) in an appropriate discipline
- Experience working with children with autistic/neurodivergent youth
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and highly motivated to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
