Educational Assistant (1.0)

New Heights School and Learning Services is a not-for-profit School, Preschool, and Specialized Service provider for families with children aged 3 – 20 years with a diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum, or with similar learning challenges. We are a play-based program that utilizes the strengths and interests of each child to address social-emotional and academic goals. 

New Heights currently requires one full time Educational Assistant to join a teaching team to work 1:1 and with small groups of students.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Educational Assistant will:

  • Support the students by teaching, using and modeling strategies
  • Determine approaches that are most effective for the students
  • Develop and implement engaging learning activities to address specified emotional and academic goals
  • Monitor and document student progress


  • Post-secondary education (certificate, diploma, and/or degree) in an appropriate discipline
  • Experience working with children/youth with autism spectrum disorder or similar social and communication challenges
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to be self-directed, flexible, highly motivated and to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
